Are Buy-to-Let Mortgages Worth the Investment?

It’s an uncertain time.  Brexit is looming, and the property market is experiencing its lowest level of annual growth in five years, so there’s a reasonable degree of scepticism among property investors.

Although these are all significant factors for buy-to-let investors to consider, recent research carried out by investment platform, British Pearl, provides a more optimistic outlook. The research shows that over the last fifty years, over any five-year period, buy-to-let property investments have resulted in a profit 83% of the time. The greatest profit being made by an average landlord buying in 1969 and generating a potential return of 148.6%.

Despite some investors making a loss, Property Reporter’s, Warren Lewis says, “…British Pearl’s findings come as a warning to savers, homeowners and investors who might be considering second-guessing the market by exiting with the intention of buying back in at lower prices…”

My years of experience securing Buy-to-Let mortgages for my clients mean I agree with James Newbery, Investment Manager at British Pearl:  “The secret to successful property investing is ultimately the same now as it ever was. The market consistently rewards those who remain level-headed, diversify portfolios and do their research.”
